Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton took a ride in the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar, which will be the German brand's fastest car

Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton took a ride in the new Mercedes-AMG One hypercar, which will be the German brand's most powerful car and one of the fastest production cars in the world. The video, titled After Work, was published on YouTube.

The first prototype of the Mercedes-AMG One was shown in 2018, but serial assembly of the hypercar has not yet begun. The car is equipped with a hybrid powertrain based on a modified 1.6-liter turbo V6 engine, which is used in the Mercedes-AMG factory team cars in Formula 1.

The car is equipped with a hybrid powertrain.

The petrol unit, capable of spinning up to 11,000 rpm, works in tandem with the electric motor on the rear axle. In the front wheels of the hypercar another auxiliary electric motor is installed. The total capacity of units exceeds 1,000 horsepower.

Preliminary data, the Mercedes-AMG One is able to accelerate from a place to the first "hundred" in about 2.5 seconds, and to accelerate to 200 km/h will require no more than six seconds. The maximum speed of the hypercar exceeds 350 km/h. The video also shows active aerodynamic elements, including an antifender that automatically extends when the control electronics are set in extreme racing mode "R+".

A total of 275 units of the Mercedes-AMG One will be produced, costing around €2.5 million each. At the moment, all the hypercars are already sold out.
