Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the body of the W223 will enter the market in 2021. It is already known that the flagship sedan will be equipped with a new infotainment system MBUX. A new portion of information from the manufacturer concerns an improved air suspension, rear axle steering and safety systems.
In addition, for the first time in S-Class, the E-Active Body Control system has been supplemented with the Pre-Safe Impulse Side side impact protection function, already available in other brand models. In the event of a potential collision, the electronics raise the front of the vehicle body by 76 mm to minimize damage.
Also, S-Class has received the rear axle control function for the first time. Depending on the steering version, the angle of movement of the rear wheels can be up to 4.5 or 10 degrees. In this case, the saloon turning radius will be reduced by 2 meters.
The only innovation is the front airbags for second row passengers. New airbags in the shape of wings protect rear passengers from frontal impact and, unlike traditional airbags, keep the air inside. They can only be ordered together with the captain's rear seats.
